Nomination

The step where an approved sponsor names the specific position you will fill, including occupation, location, and salary. It is assessed separately from the visa.

A nomination is the step in an employer-sponsored visa where an approved sponsor names the specific position the visa applicant will fill. It sets out the occupation, the location, and the salary, and is assessed by the Department of Home Affairs against the visa criteria.

Nomination follows sponsor approval and supports the worker's visa application. The department checks that the role is genuine, correctly classified, and paid at least the market rate for the occupation.
