Award rate

The legal minimum pay and conditions for a job or industry, set by a modern award. Awards are a floor that contracts and enterprise agreements can beat but never undercut.

An award rate is the minimum pay and set of conditions for a job or industry, defined by a modern award made by the Fair Work Commission. Awards cover things like base hourly rates, penalty rates, overtime, and allowances for the work they apply to.

Several awards commonly apply to Irish workers, including the Hospitality Industry (General) Award, the Building and Construction General On-site Award, and the Nurses Award. Which one applies depends on the work and the employer, not on your visa.
